undisputable fact that the then Judge, Warioba commission has done a beautiful work of monitoring the constitutional review process.
the commission has tried its best to cover the biggest percentage of popular opinions over the new constitution.
however, there is still a big problem which in fact needs to be looked at with an eagle's eye.
The Law in place has given a negative image in this new mother law of the land..the process seems to be overshadowed by politicians which makes it look more political overturning the will of common people.
big as 70+% of the constituent assembly constitutes politician. how should such a constitution be expected to be?
to gain people's trust, the process should include all cadres equally. academicians, civil society groups, politicians and NGOs should participate, even Tanzania Zanzibar should not be left behind since it's the United Republic constitution-it covers Zanzibaris interests in union matters.
I a appeal to HE head of the state not to give his nod consent to the draft before it meets all requisite standards.
The President of United Republic of Tz,made his best to engage all cadres of people from different organizations who were given chance to point themselves 3 people to represent them!!and the work was done accordingly,ts my time now to say Mr. Muga to give us enough evidence to prove his post esp.on non-participation of people in const.review process
ReplyDeleteit's like this, when we talk of 'The constitution of the united republic of Tanzania' we mean it's the document interesting two parties viz, Tanzania mainland and Tanzania Zanzibar..i cant deny the fact that The mainland was fully engaged but Zanzibar wasn't affected with it.
ReplyDeleteanother thing, the bill to govern the constituent assembly is not impartial nor is the constituent assembly impartial itself. a small example, it's almost dominated by 72% of politicians while it's only 68% votes needed (2 thirds) to pass the document..does it make sense?
